January Presidents Report

Published on 1/1/2019

Hello again everyone!  I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.  As we say good by to 2018 and hello to 2019, the ski season is off to a great start.  Our trip captains and board members have been working hard to provide some great trips this year.

The first trip of the new year is Big Sky Montana trip and it sold out.  That trip leaves Jan 5th and looks to be a great week of boarding and skiing.  Big Sky open this year with a new 8 seat lift.  The Ramcharger 8 is North America’s first eight seat lift. With its comfortable, heated seats and weather-proof dome you will be whisked to the top of the mountain in style.  It dramatically reduces the lift Lines giving you more time on the slopes.  This is going to be a great trip

Our second trip is the Flatland Ski Association trip at Steamboat.  This 5-day trip, leaving on 22 January is full of fun and provides the perfect atmosphere to feed you competitive spirit.  From the NASTAR races to the Snowshoe races it is always a fun and enjoyable time.  Not to mention it is at Steamboat.  Steamboat it an authentic western town.  If you get the chance find out when Billy Kidd is doing his ski tours of the mountain and get a chance to ski with A world Cup skier and an Olympic medalist.  This trip is one to put on your bucket list.  Plus, as part of the Tulsa team you have the opportunity to bring the FSA trophy back to Tulsa.

Our next trip is Angel Fire.  This is our president’s Day weekend trip leaving on the 15th of February.  This is a great mountain.  With over 80 runs and 3 terrain parks it has it all, including the Polar Coaster a 4-lane tubing hill for those who don’t ski or if you want a break from the slopes.  Angel Fire has the only night skiing and boarding opportunity in New Mexico on the front side of the mountain Friday and Saturday evenings.  Unlike last year, New Mexico is getting dumped on.  With over 14” of fresh snow over the Christmas holidays and more in the forecast it should be awesome conditions. There is still time to sign up.

Our final trip for the season is Taos New Mexico.  If you have not skied Taos Ski Valley you are missing out.  This mountain is just awesome.  It has everything to challenge and hone your skill. Tulsa has been going to Taos for over 30 years and it never fails to disappoint.  With over 1200 acres of skiable terrain, 110 runs it has something for everyone.  With 9” of new snow over the holidays and more on it’s way it will be a great trip.  The lodging at El Pueblo Lodge is one of the better lodging venues in Taos.  For those who don’t ski or just want to take a break the Lodge is a couple blocks from the Plaza and it is an easy walk to the shops and dining downtown.  The night life in Taos is great as well.  There are plenty of restaurants in walking distance plus there are quite locations that have live bands to relax and enjoy the evening.  We still have spots on the trip but it will fill up fast after the holidays.  Act now so you don’t miss out.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year.  I look forward to see you on the slopes this year.

Happy New Year
